This lot comes from Diego Robelo and Aquiares Estate in Turrialba, Costa Rica. Expect bright citrus sweetness layered with soft cocoa depth, caramelized sugars, and a smooth rounded finish. The cup is vibrant without being sharp, making it equally enjoyable as espresso, pour over, drip, French press, or milk-based drinks.
Aquiares is one of Costa Rica’s most established and forward-thinking farms, known for its commitment to sustainability, intentional cultivation, and experimental processing methods. This coffee is an Esperanza varietal — a hybrid developed for both quality and resilience — and processed using African washed techniques. That means the coffee maintains the clean structure and clarity of a traditional washed process, while gaining extra sweetness, texture, and depth through extended fermentation and careful drying practices inspired by African coffee production.
The result is a coffee that feels familiar and comforting, but with enough nuance and complexity to stay interesting cup after cup.
